Small plane skids off runway into water at Coos County airport; all aboard rescued

PHOTOS: A small private aircraft skidded off Runway 23 at the Southwest Oregon Regional Airport early Monday morning, coming to rest approximately 100 feet off the east end of the runway in the water. The incident occurred at around 6:12 a.m. on April 7, 2025. All four passengers and one crew member aboard the aircraft were rescued and transported to a hospital.

Their conditions remain unknown at this time. Emergency response teams, including the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighter Team, Coos Bay and North Bend Fire Departments, North Bend Police Department, and the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, have secured the aircraft. Commercial air traffic on the airport’s main runway (05/23) has been suspended while an investigation is conducted.
