Moon Complex fire 70% contained; closures and safety measures remain in place

The Moon Complex fire, which began on Sept. 3, 2025, has reached 70% containment, covering 19,520 acres. Recent cooler temperatures and increased humidity have significantly reduced fire activity, with minimal creeping and smoldering reported. However, strong winds and heavy rain have limited firefighting operations due to safety concerns, including the risk of falling fire-damaged trees.

The Nevada Type 3 Incident Management Team 4 will transfer command to a local Type 4 Incident Commander at the end of todayโ€™s shift. Suppression repair operations and hazard tree mitigation on Bear Camp Road will continue for several days. A Level 1 evacuation order remains in effect for Agness and surrounding areas. Residents are advised to stay informed about current evacuation levels.
