Medford Fire Department responds to multiple structure fires

VIDEO: Nobody was injured after two separate structure fires sparked on the Northwest side of Medford on Wednesday. The first of the two happened at a vacant residence at 2705 Howard Avenue. The Medford Fire Department responded to multiple calls from citizens reporting smoke coming from the residence. When crews arrived, smoke was seen coming from the attic and causing some damage to the roof. It was determined that the house was unoccupied, which allowed crews to get quick access to knock down the fire, containing the fire to only the attic.

“The guys quickly got around it, found that it was a working attic fire, made access really quick, and were able to get it knocked down while it was still contained to the attic. We had just over 20 people respond to this: 4 fire engines and 2 chiefs,” said Battalion Chief Jason John. The second fire occurred on Sage Road. A portion of the road was closed after a fence caught fire and spread to a structure. That’s according to MFD, who says the fire resulted in a gas pipeline situation. Both fires are under investigation.
