Man in custody after barricading self in Tigard home, setting several fires, deputies say

A man is in custody after an hours-long situation in Tigard overnight Sunday where the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said he lit several fires after barricading himself inside of a home.

The incident started around 10:49 p.m. Sunday with a report of a domestic disturbance at the Eldorado Mobile Villas along Southwest Eldorado Drive.

Arriving deputies said the other family members made it out safely, but 37-year-old Jaime Lopez had barricaded himself inside a home, refusing to come out.

Lopez began setting several fires, the sheriffโ€™s office said, and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue (TVF&R) was called to put out the flames.

He continued to light fires inside the home, which eventually burned him, the sheriff’s office said.
