Kitchen fire damages historic Portland steakhouse

VIDEO: A fire damaged the historic Ringside Steakhouse in southwest Portland on Saturday. Crews with Portland Fire & Rescue arrived at the restaurant on West Burnside around 3 p.m. to tackle the fire that officials say started in the kitchen. Firefighters were able to put out the fire quickly but stayed at the scene to make sure that it didn’t re-ignite. Portland community member Delmar Dolliver told FOX 12 the restaurant is a Rose City staple.

“It’s devastating,” Dolliver said. “I mean, I haven’t seen the extent of the damage but it’s a great spot for Friday, Saturday night. A lot of the locals come here, people traveling in town they also come here. It’s one of the recommended restaurants throughout here in Portland.” Investigators say the fire started from behind the stove, but the cause is unknown at this time. While no one was hurt, the steakhouse was closed for the day and it is unclear when they will reopen
