Lebanon Fire crews put out a house fire on Monday morning, saying they had to deal with a downed power line while fighting the blaze. The fire was reported at about 7:20 a.m. in the 100 block of South Williams Street. Firefighters cut a hole in the roof to let heat and smoke vent from the home, “improving visibility and survivability in case anyone is still in the building.” Everyone made it out safely.
They managed to contain the fire despite facing challenges from a downed power line and a layered roof. Crews also put out a second, smaller fire that they found nearby. Fire investigators are looking into both incidents. “The Linn County Fire Defense Board would like to remind everyone that backyard burning has been postponed until October 15th. Even with recent rainfall, dry fuels can still ignite easily—please continue to use caution and avoid outdoor burning until restrictions are lifted,” Lebanon Fire said.
