PHOTOS: Fire crews battled a two-alarm house fire early Thursday morning in a southeast Salem neighborhood. No one was hurt in the fire. People called 911 reporting flames coming from a large 3-story home with rugged terrain in the backyard. Fire officials called out a second alarm, and 15 fire vehicles and several specialty units responded to the scene. โDespite initial obstacles, including a limited water supply and steep slopes, firefighters successfully deployed an aerial master stream and handlines to bring the fire under control,โ Salem Fire said. Fire investigators are still working to find out what caused the fire. Initial estimates put the property loss at $300,000 due to extensive fire and water damage. The American Red Cross is helping one adult find temporary shelter.
