VIDEO/PHOTOS: Around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, Corvallis firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to multiple reports of a house fire in the 900-block of SW 11th Street. Crews arrived within five minutes to find a heavily involved single-family home. Crews searched for potential occupants while simultaneously attacking the fire and performing ventilation. “We are thankful to report that all occupants escaped the fire,” the Corvallis Fire Department stated.
One person in the home received burn injuries during their escape, the department added. That person was treated on scene by fire department paramedics and transported to a local hospital for further treatment. It took firefighters over an hour to fully extinguish the flames. “The age and current design of the home created a number of hidden spaces for fire to travel,” the fire department explained. “This caused our firefighters to need multiple saws and hand tools to open up the void spaces to find pockets of fire.” The cause of the fire is under investigation.
