Fire season in Pacific Northwest approaching half-a-billion dollars in estimated costs

PHOTOS: According to the 2025 Large Incidents Year-to-Date report published by the Northwest Interagency Coordination Center, over an estimated $465 million has been spent so far on fires in Oregon and Washington. The report says that 457,206 acres have burned this fire season. The most expensive fire to date has been the Pomas Fire, located 36 miles northwest of Entiat, Washington, which burned 3,533 acres in June. The report says the fire cost almost $65 million dollars to fight.

In Oregon, the three most expensive fires to date have been the Flat Fire, Emigrant Fire, and the Grizzly Complex. The Flat Fire cost over $29 million, the Emigrant Fire has cost over $27 million, and the Grizzly Complex cost over $26 million. Last year 2,074,585 acres burned across Oregon and Washington, with 1,797,797 burning in Oregon alone, according to NWCC.
