Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue crews responded to a commercial fire at Kona Kids Dentistry in Tigard shortly after 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19. Firefighters found heavy smoke emanating from the one-story standalone dental office. Intense heat had caused multiple windows to fail, and gusty winds accelerated the fire’s growth. Firefighters launched an aggressive attack, using multiple hose lines while truck crews ventilated the building from the roof.
Their efforts brought the fire under control. The building has significant fire and smoke damage and is likely a total loss, officials said. No injuries were reported. Special efforts were made to rescue fish from a tank inside the building, and all were successfully evacuated by a local aquarium company. Fire investigators are actively investigating the cause of the fire. Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue received assistance from Tigard Police and AMR at the scene.
