Fire damages storage unit in Roseburg; cause under investigation

PHOTOS: A commercial storage unit on Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard was damaged Wednesday evening after a fire broke out inside the structure, according to the Roseburg Fire Department (RFD).

Fire crews were dispatched around 7:14 p.m. to the area of NE Diamond Lake Boulevard and Ivan Street for a report of smoke. RFD says when firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming from the garage door and eaves of Suite L at 2405 NE Diamond Lake Boulevard.

The unit did not house an active business and was being used for storage, firefighters said. Crews entered the building, extinguished the fire and ventilated the structure to prevent flames from spreading to other parts of the commercial complex. A search of the unit confirmed no one was inside at the time of the fire.

The suite sustained structural, smoke and water damage. Firefighters remained on scene for overhaul, and two fire investigators responded. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
