Evacuations lifted in McMinnville after car crashes into propane tanks near Wilco Store

VIDEOS/PHOTOS: McMinnville Police say a three-car crash in front of the Wilco Farm Store damaged a 1,500-gallon propane tank, prompting them to issue an hours-long evacuation order for people living within a mile radius of the store. The evacuations were lifted around 7 p.m., according to McMinnville Police Department.

A Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue hazardous materials team was on the scene, investigating the stability of the propane tank. Officials say they waited for the fire to die out so that could be concluded. McMinnville Fire posted that the area was being evacuated due to a fire. The agency also confirmed that their Hazardous Materials Team assisted the fire department on the scene. Officials say they have not received any indication that any explosion occurred. Three people involved in the crash have been taken to the hospital in unknown conditions.

In a post on social media just after 3 p.m., police said the incident was impacting traffic on Highway 99 W, Lafayette Ave, Grandhaven Dr, and the surrounding area. All lanes on Highway 99W were closed due to this incident. McMinnville Water & Light has shut off power to locations within the evacuation radius, according to the Yamhill County Sheriffโ€™s Office. Some businesses have been directed to shelter in place.
