Eugene Springfield Fire’s newest recruits, part of the Oregon State Firefighter Apprentice program, will take on their first live fire exercise on Thursday, May 8, at Eugene Springfield Fire’s training facility in Eugene (1705 W. 2nd Ave.).
Recruits will join existing crews to apply everything they have learned up to this point during the academy, performing live fire evolutions and working together to complete a mission.
“By the time they graduate, this class will have experienced several live fire evolutions enhancing their hands on training,” said Eugene Springfield Fire Chief Mike Caven. “This first exercise is always exciting and a huge learning experience, taking what they’ve been learning for the past couple of months and putting it into practice.”
This recruit class, Class 32, began their training in early March and is expected to graduate on May 16.
