Emergency crews respond to Oakridge medic unit rollover on Highway 58

An Oakridge Fire & EMS medic unit was involved in a rollover crash on Highway 58 near milepost 30. The crash occurred shortly before 2 p.m. as the unit was returning from a patient transport.

Three responders were inside the vehicle during the crash. Mutual aid crews from Lowell, Dexter, and Upper McKenzie Rural Fire Protection Districts quickly arrived and extricated the occupants.

Eugene Springfield Fire provided immediate transport for the injured responders. One responder is in critical but stable condition, and the two others sustained minor injuries and are undergoing evaluation.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Fortunately, no patients were in the ambulance at the time.

Eugene Springfield Fire will cover ambulance duties for Oakridge during the recovery period. According to Oakridge Fire & EMS, “This incident has deeply impacted our department and community.”
