Apartment fire in Springfield contained, no injuries reported

VIDEO/PHOTOS: An apartment fire that broke out in Springfield Monday evening was prevented from expanding to additional units thanks to Eugene Springfield Fire crews. According to ESF, crews were called to the Rainbow Village Apartments in Springfield around 6:30 p.m., May 19, 2025. “Initial callers reported potential victims and multiple units on fire, the responding battalion chief called for a second alarm bringing more resources to the scene.”

ESF says the closest fire company was already responding to another call at the time of the fire. About 6 minutes after dispatch, Engine 5 from Gateway arrived at the scene and found a single apartment unit heavily involved in fire. Fire crews searched the occupancy area and found no victims, residents of the apartment were later found outside and were evaluated by on-scene medics. Crews were able to contain the fire to its unit, preventing it from expanding. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
