VIDEO: One person was taken to the hospital and four pets died as the result of a house fire Saturday night, according to Hillsboro Fire & Rescue (HFR). Shortly before 9 p.m., crews were called to the scene of the fire after a 911 caller reported seeing smoke and flames coming from a home on Northeast Sunrise Lane in Hillsboro.
Arriving firefighters found a โsignificantโ amount of flames showing from the home. Crews negotiated a downed power line in the roadway to the battle the blaze at the single-story home. According to HFR, both residents made it out of the home, one of whom was taken to the hospital – where they are expected to recover. However, four pets were found dead as a result of the fire.
HFR says flames were again reported to be coming from the house around 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Responding crews once again extinguished the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
