VIDEO: Dayton Burnside has been named fire chief for the city of Ardmore after a search for a new one lasted more than a year. Burnside brings 26 years of experience in fire service to the position. He previously served as chief in Sulphur, where his career began, and spent nearly 10 years as chief in Duncan.
โIโve always had a public servant in mind and just tried and true, I just want to serve the citizens and serve the community,โ Burnside said. The city conducted an extensive search to replace Cary Williamson, who retired after 14 years as chief, a department record. Ardmore firefighter John Henry served as interim chief during the transition.
Burnside said he plans to build on the foundation established by previous leadership. โThe predecessors have laid a great foundation, great groundwork. Ardmoreโs a very professional, effective and efficient department and we look forward to building onto that,โ he said.
