The Mannford Fire Department has announced it has earned an improved rating from the Insurance Service Office (ISO).
Starting March 1, the Mannford Fire Department’s ISO rating will by Class 3/3Y. The classification, known as the Public Protection Classification (PPC) survey, assesses a community’s fire protection efforts. Mannford FD says the rating is a huge improvement especially with the staff being 100% volunteer.
The ISO rating is based on four factors: a fire department’s ability to receive and respond to fire alarms, review of fire department’s equipment, personnel and training; the water supply system, and community risk reduction efforts. The ratings range from 1 to 10, with 1 being superior property fire protection and 10 indicates the area’s fire suppression program not meeting minimum requirements. Insurance companies use the ISO rating for underwriting and calculating premiums for residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
Mannford FD is encouraging property owners to contact their insurance providers about the new ISO rating.
