Crews with the Lawton Fire Department (LFD) and the Valley View Volunteer Fire Department (Valley View VFD) responded to a brush fire in east Lawton on Saturday. Crews were dispatched to a field near the intersection of Northeast 15th Street and Northeast Cache Road for a possible hay bale and brush fire.
When authorities arrived on the scene, they found flames making their way southwest through the field of hay bales and brush. According to our 7News crew on scene, fire crews with tanker and brush trucks worked to contain the fire while individuals in tractors worked to move hay bales from the area to prevent further spread. Firefighters were able to contain the fire and worked to clean up the scene. Officials with LFD say the fire is believed to have started by a baler in the field.
