A family jumped out of a second-story window with their baby to escape an apartment fire in Bethany.

Bethany Firefighters responded near Northwest 17th Street and N Rockwell Avenue around 6 a.m. to a structure fire. One upstairs unit was fully involved with visible smoke and flames.

Two residents in the unit were able to escape through the back window with their baby before firefighters arrived. One resident had burns on his body and was taken to the hospital, a woman had smoke inhalation, and the baby is okay, according to fire officials.

Firefighters report the woman said she believes she left a candle burning. The apartment unit is a total loss, but the damage was mainly contained to the one unit.
