The Duncan Fire Department held a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday afternoon for its new Station Number 4.
The new facility will be located at Camelback and Highway 81. Officials said it will help the department bring faster response times to the northern parts of Duncan and its lakes.
Ryan Ellis, interim fire chief for the Duncan Fire Department, expressed gratitude for the new facility.
“We appreciate it greatly. Yeah, it’s taken some time to get the ball moving — I know several councilmen and women have been working on this for several years and it’s taking a lot of time getting everything in place and whatnot, but we greatly appreciate it,” Ellis said. “It shows that they support us and they have our backs and back us through everything, so, greatly appreciated.”
Officials said that with the new station, they hope to bring in more firefighters to better serve the community.
