PHOTOS: Firefighters responded to a large brush fire Tuesday afternoon. Crews were called to the vicinity of state Route 169 and Deforest Road in Weathersfield.
According to the Weathersfield Fire Department, the fire was located directly behind a commercial establishment, presenting an immediate exposure risk to the building. Firefighters attacked the flames aggressively and rapidly brought the fire under control, preventing it from spreading. The building had minimal fire damage. No injuries were reported.
Shortly before 2 p.m., firefighters were called to a different brush fire at a property in the area of Salt Springs Road and Owsley Road in Weathersfield. The property owner was able to use a backhoe to help firefighters put the fire out. No injuries were reported. McDonald firefighters and dispatchers assisted at the scene of this fire.
