VIDEO: Since 1983, the Warren Township VFD has held its ice cream social. As their one and only fundraiser of the year, it is incredibly important to their department.
Happening Saturday, June 28 starting at 4 p.m. at the Main fire station in Marietta, the event will have food, a live auction, and a country store. No ticket needed to attend, but Country store tickets are sold on site for $5.00 for 21 tickets. The food will be a baked steak or chicken with fixings and a drive provided by the VFD Auxiliary. Fire Chief Mark Wiles explains why this event is so important to the department.
“Not only is it our only fundraiser of the year, but it brings the community to gather for a sort of reunion. You get to see people you haven’t seen in a while, it gives the FD an opportunity to display our new equipment and show what we’ve been doing with their levy money and it gives us a chance to fellowship with our neighbors in a positive atmosphere instead of in an emergency situation,” said Chief Wiles.
