Union Centre Boulevard overpass in West Chester reopens after tanker truck fire

VIDEO: The Union Centre Boulevard overpass has reopened after repairs, according to West Chester Police. A fire involving a tanker truck carrying diesel fuel shut down an I-75 overpass in West Chester Tuesday afternoon until early Wednesday morning.

Ohio Department of Transportation officials said the Union Centre Boulevard overpass between Muhlhauser and Cincinnati Dayton Road would remain closed “until further notice” after crews extinguished both the fire on the truck and a fire in the storm drain.

Resources from surrounding communities, including Cincinnati, were called to the scene to help with the fire. Hazmat remained there for leaking fuel, while ODOT was called to inspect the overpass.

ODOT officials said the inspection found no structural damage to the bridge, but the pavement on the deck and ramp was damaged and needed repairs before the bridge could reopen.
