South Toledo apartment fire displaces 16 people

VIDEO: A fire at an apartment complex in south Toledo Tuesday night displaced 16 residents and affected six units, according to the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department. There were no injuries in the fire and all civilians were able to escape the Norwich Apartments on their own, said TFRD’s John Kaminski, who described himself as acting fire chief at the scene.

The American Red Cross and the apartment complex’s manager are assisting the residents. Kaminski said crews were able to mostly contain damage to the third floor of the building on Norwich Road off of South Reynolds Road. He added that crews were able to knock down the fire “quickly” after attacking from the interior in the attic. Crews responded to the scene around 8:30 p.m.
