VIDEO: Last month, a house in Piqua burst into flames and became fully engulfed with a man still inside the burning home when, suddenly, a hero swooped in to save his life. For his selfless bravery, Julio DeLeon was honored at the City Commission meeting on the night of Tuesday, Dec. 9. โItโs overwhelming, but I feel loved,โ said DeLeon.
On Nov. 18, a house on Covington Avenue exploded, then collapsed just minutes later. The explosion shook the entire neighborhood, with even some a mile away feeling and hearing the boom.
โI live two blocks from the incident,โ said Austin Cooper, DeLeonโs younger brother. โI felt my house shake.โ Despite the danger, DeLeon decided to leave his girlfriend and their 17-month-old child to see if anyone needed help.
After yelling inside and hearing a man calling for help, DeLeon ran inside and got Brian Markin out of the blaze.
