Fire destroys Sagamore Hills Township home

VIDEO: An overnight fire destroyed a home in Sagamore Hills Wednesday morning. A neighbor on North Gannett Road called 911 around 1:50 a.m. after seeing flames. When firefighters arrived around 2:05 a.m., Macedonia Lt. Tim Best said flames were coming through the roof.

Firefighters entered the home, but had to pull out quickly when the roof and floor started collapsing, said Lt. Best. There were no injuries, and it is believed the residents were not at home. Five other communities helped to put out the blaze. Crews continued to flow water on the fire from the outside of the structure until the fire was brought under control at approximately 3:04 a.m., according to a release. Firefighters remained on scene this morning to address lingering hot spots. The cause remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal.
