VIDEO: Rescue teams were called to a park on the west side of Columbus and rescued a woman off a rock wall on Tuesday morning. A spokesperson for the Columbus Division of Fire said that firefighters were sent to Quarry Trails Metro Park on Dublin Road at around 12 p.m. after reports a person was stuck on the rock wall.
A woman stayed on the rock wall after experiencing an anxiety attack and was helped by firefighters and park rangers to come down. She was safely lowered with no injuries. Park officials said this highlights the importance of training for these situations. Larry Peck, the Deputy Director of Metro Parks, said the Via Ferrata experience is something people canโt just show up and do. It involves going across more than 1000 feet with metal rungs and cables and climbers must be escorted by park rangers. The parkโs deputy director said several rangers were with the woman and her group at the time.
