VIDEO: Schools are about to be in session, but a totally different learning experience will be available for some residents in the Dublin area. Washington Township wants neighbors to step into the gear and get a firsthand look at what it means to be a firefighter and see how they train to keep your family safe. Itโs the Citizens Fire Academy.
โWe have to be prepared and we want the citizens to understand the job we do,โ said Fire Chief John Donahue of the Washington Township Fire Department. This is a chance to experience real firefighter training. โFrom a safety standpoint, that they can go back home and make their lives safer,โ said Donahue about his number one goal for the program. โNumber two, that they have a better appreciation of the public safety services that we provide to our community.โ Donahue said he is especially excited to welcome the next academy class after voters supported Washington Townshipโs fire levy earlier this year. He sees this program as a chance for residents to see that levy in action.
