North Dakota Acts on Propane Shortage

North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong has issued an executive order waiving hours of service requirements for commercial drivers transporting propane and other petroleum products. The waiver, effective for 30 days, aims to help meet the stateโ€™s increasing demand for heating fuel amid extremely cold conditions. With temperatures in Bismarck expected to drop to nearly 40 below zero, the state faces critical shortages of propane and other petroleum products. Severe seasonal weather and high heating demands have strained supplies, creating challenges for residents relying on fuel for warmth. According to the executive order, โ€œthe lack of adequate heating fuel poses an immediate risk to public health, safety, and welfare.โ€ The decision to waive service hours will allow carriers to make timely fuel deliveries and prevent supply disruptions.
