Minot firefighters put out stove fire in apartment complex

A stove fire in an apartment complex in southeast Minot caused evacuations Thursday morning, but the Minot Fire Department (MFD) was able to quickly put out the flames. According to the MFD, at about 10:22 a.m. today, firefighters received a call about a stove on fire in an apartment located in the 300 block of 14th Avenue SE. All MFD stations were dispatched to the scene.

Fire officials say there were no signs of smoke or flames from outside the home. When entering the unit, crews were met with heavy smoke as they located the source of the fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames using a fire extinguisher. After fully searching the complex, firefighters confirmed that all residents had safely exited the building. Crews then initiated ventilation to clear smoke from the building. Residents were allowed to return to their apartments.
