Harwood fire chief warns drivers after near-miss incident with firefighters, trooper

The Harwood fire chief is warning drivers to stay off roads after dash cam footage captured a near-miss incident involving two firefighters and a North Dakota State Trooper on Tuesday.

“Two of my firefighters and a North Dakota State Trooper were almost taken out by an irresponsible driver,” the fire chief said in a statement on Facebook. “Two of my firefighters almost did not make it home and NDHP almost lost a vehicle because of someone not driving for the conditions.”

The incident was captured on dash cam footage from a Harwood Fire/Rescue apparatus, according to the chief. The fire chief said the incident highlights the importance of driving safely in dangerous conditions. “The moral of the story is, slow down and pay attention or don’t travel,” the chief said.
