VIDEO: The Grant County fire included many close calls. It was too close for comfort for some, as flames came within feet of several homes and the property line of a historic church. Perry Greff’s fields and property were torched, but his home miraculously survived, as the fire came within feet of his house. It was nearly deja vu at Matt Kuhn’s property as fire burned dangerously close to his home.
“Well, I lost my home eight years ago to a fire, and I was pretty determined. It’s taken eight years to right myself, and I didn’t want to have to start over again. You know, power of prayer and neighbors and firefighters, and it’s done, it’s over with, I think, for now,” said Kuhn. He said the dirt mounds he and his friends built kept the fire away.
