First responders were busy responding to fireworks-related incidents across western North Dakota. A trailer filled with fireworks started on fire Friday night north of Bismarck at 71st Street and State Street. The Burleigh County Sheriff’s Office said some fireworks were being set off in the area shortly after 10:30 p.m.
They say one of the fireworks tipped over and struck a tent with a firework trailer inside. The owner was able to jump in the cab of the semi and pulled it away from the tent and bigger fireworks. No one was injured.
One person was injured and a garage was heavily damaged by a firework at a southeast Dickinson home Friday night. The Dickinson Fire Department said its crews arrived at the 2nd Avenue Southeast home around 10 p.m. The victim had to be taken to the hospital for their injuries. Three dogs were also found in the home. They were unharmed. The fire was quickly put out.
The department reminds the public that fireworks are illegal within Dickinson city limits and can cause dangerous situations like this one. A lieutenant with the Ward County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to 12 fire calls that involved fireworks over the past 24 hours. They said the damage was largely minimal.
