Crews respond to structure fire in Grand Forks

Fire crews responded to an overnight structure fire in Grand Forks on Saturday, June 7. At around 1:43 a.m., the Grand Forks Fire Department responded to 812 4th Avenue South for a report of smoke and fire alarms in a multi-family residence. When fire crews arrived on the scene, they found heavy smoke on the second and third floors while people were evacuating.

The fire was extinguished but there was significant damage to the unit. The resident of the unit was displaced and is being assisted by the American Red Cross and the Grand Forks Housing Authority. Three residents of the building were evaluated for injuries at Altru Hospital, with one resident being treated. There were no injuries to first responders. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
