Two workers injured in food-truck explosion at festival in Chatham County

VIDEO: Two workers were injured after an explosion inside a food truck on Thursday at an event in Chatham County.

The Chatham County Fire Marshal is investigating the blast, which happened about 12:30 p.m. at the Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival.

Fire Marshal Billy Judson said a propane gas leak caused the blast inside the Stuffyman’s Vegan Stuff food truck.

The ensuing fire was isolated to the food truck, and two workers inside were hurt. They were taken to the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center in Chapel Hill, and their conditions are unknown.

One of the people injured was the owner of the food truck, Eric Zeigler. His wife told ABC11 that her husband was burned on 30% of his body.

She said he’s expected to receive treatment at the burn center for a few months.

Judson credited the Shakori Hills staff for acting quickly to grab fire extinguishers before emergency personnel arrived.
