‘Total loss’: Firefighter injured after Wake County officials battle two-story house fire

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A firefighter suffered minor injuries battling a large house fire near Garner Monday afternoon. According to Garner Fire Chief Brad Mitchell, the call of the fire came in around 1:35 p.m. in the 100 block of Cyprine Court near Garner. Heavy fire and smoke was seen coming from the house when fire crews arrived on scene. At one point, there were multiple lines battling the house fire. Officials said that at one point, they called it unsafe to be in the home and firefighters exited the home and used water cannons to extinguish the fire. Chief Mitchell said that the home is a total loss due to the fire damage. The house was occupied at the time of the call and a mother and her son exited the home and were not injured, officials said. They, along with another family who is currently out of town, have been displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
