Therapy dog joins Greensboro Fire Department team

Officials announced Tuesday morning a female therapy dog will join its ranks. Following a donation from the Bryan Foundation, the Greensboro Firefighters Foundation bought the dog for GFD.

The dog, whose name will be decided by the fire department’s social media followers, will be used to support the emotional well-being of the firefighters.

“Firefighters experience some of life’s most stressful and traumatic moments,” said Fire Chief Jim Robinson. “The addition of our therapy canine provides a meaningful way to help our members decompress and take care of their mental and emotional health. We’re grateful to the Greensboro Firefighters Foundation for making this possible.”

The Greensboro Firefighters Foundation says it bought the dog in line with its mission to strengthen its bond with the community.
