Seven new ambulances join Brunswick County EMS fleet

Brunswick County Emergency Medical Services (BCEMS) has announced additions to its emergency vehicle fleet.

BCEMS purchased the seven new ambulances in fiscal year 2024 for $2,669,895, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and the countyโ€™s general funds.

The county currently operates 23 ambulances, 16 quick response vehicles (QRV), two all-terrain vehicles (ATV), one high water vehicle, and one mass evacuation bus, according to BCEMS. The new vehicles will replace four aging ambulances currently in use.

The ambulances are Frazer Type I modules on Ford F-550 Regular Cabs, and BCEMS says theyโ€™re equipped with the Stryker Power-LOAD system, built-in GPS tracking, power and climate control systems, and improved air conditioning.

The new vehicles will be distributed to multiple of the countyโ€™s 24-hour ambulance locations, including in Calabash, Old Georgetown Road, Shallotte, Executive Park, Boiling Spring Lakes, and two in Leland.
