VIDEO: Firefighters in the Piedmont Triad have been stretched thin over the last several days due to several brush fires. Rural Hall Fire Department Engineer Josh Kiger says his team was busy and out on the road. “We’ve had three brush fires in the last three days, and most of those have been with the Mineral Springs Fire Department,” Kiger said. Kiger says the latest brush fire his team helped put out was on Tuesday on the 6400 block of Merlendale Lane in north Winston-Salem. 24 hours later, the charred vegetation was still visible. “The winds have caused it to be even worse than normal. Yesterday, they said winds were upwards of 30 miles per hour. Today, they’ve been up around 20 miles per hour,” Kiger said.
