Man charged for stealing Pender County EMS and Fire vehicle

A man has been arrested and charged for stealing a Pender County EMS and Fire vehicle early Sunday morning. According to arrest warrants, the suspect was identified as 19-year-old David A. Alvarez. He is currently being held under a $25,000 secured bond. According to Pender EMS and Fire, the Pender County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from a Pender EMS and Fire drone to help with law enforcement operations in Rocky Point at around 1:45 a.m. Emergency officials say that at around 2:15 a.m., while the Pender EMS and Fire drone pilot flew the drone in search of a suspect, Alvarez gained entry into the unoccupied Pender EMS vehicle. Alvarez left the scene with the vehicle and crashed into a tree, where he was detained by law enforcement.
