Incredible pictures show massive mulch fire in Buncombe County

PHOTOS: Firefighters battled a massive mulch fire in western North Carolina over the weekend, with one photographer capturing some incredible pictures of the blaze. The fire broke out Saturday, April 5 on Mimidis Lane in the Swannanoa part of Buncombe County, right off Highway 70 East. Ok Outdoors lists its address on Mimidis Lane and its website said it sells mulch products. Pictures taken by fire photographer Rey Castillo showed firefighters from across the area battling the blaze, including some from the Swannanoa, Asheville, Black Mountain, West Buncombe and North Transylvania fire departments. Swannanoa Fire and Rescue gave updates throughout the weekend, and said Saturday night that the fire was contained to the mulch pile.
