VIDEO: Six people were hurt in an apartment fire in south Charlotte early Thursday morning. It happened on Winter Oaks Lane, which is near the intersection of South Boulevard and Sharon Road West. Fire officials said a two-alarm fire was seen through the roof of the building. Police said there were 11 people in total inside the unit that caught fire. Three of those people had life-threatening injuries, one person had serious injuries, and two people had minor injuries, according to Medic. Fire crews said the blaze was controlled within 40 minutes. Some neighbors told WCNC Charlotte they weren’t woken up by smoke detectors but instead were alerted by fire crews that they needed to get out. One resident recalled seeing “flames engulfing everything.” Arson detectives responded to the scene, though it’s important to note that does not necessarily mean the case has been ruled an arson.
