First responders in Chocowinity put out residential fire

Local first responders put out a residential fire early Wednesday morning in Chocowinity. The Beaufort County 9-1-1 center received a call at 6:43am and quickly dispatched responders. The fire occurred on Old New Bern Highway and involved a two-story structure. First responders reported that the flames started on the left side of the home. Two occupants of the residence and their dog were able to exit the home unscathed. โ€œI would say the home is probably a total loss,โ€ D.C. Linton, emergency manager coordinator of Beaufort County said at the scene of the fire. First responders from Chocowinity, Washington, Blounts Creek, Bunyan, Old Ford, Beaufort County Emergency Services, Highway Patrol and the Beaufort County Sheriffโ€™s Office helped put the fire out.
