Firefighter discusses rescuing 4 hurt in Randolph County crash

VIDEO: A crash that left four people in the hospital in Randolph County remains under investigation. It was so serious that one child had to be flown to the hospital. One adult and three kids were inside a car on Monday when the Franklinville Fire Department said they were hit on the driverโ€™s side. A relative of the family said a crew was working a job site at the intersection and called 911 when they saw it happen. He said they even helped the fire crews. โ€œThey helped direct traffic, and one assisted me in taking the door off the car,โ€ said Blayne Dixon, a firefighter with the FFD. Dixon said he was the first firefighter to arrive just minutes after the call came in, and he knew he needed to act quickly. The driverโ€™s side of the car was severely damaged. They needed to use hydraulic rescue tools. โ€œWe had already had the first two patients extracted by the time Rescue 8 got on the sceneโ€ฆRescue 8 helped us with the other two patients,โ€ Dixon said.
