Fire at auto shop in Hildebran damages vehicles, injures 1

One person was hurt and several vehicles were damaged after a fire erupted at a performance and modification shop in Hildebran early Saturday.

Around 12:11 a.m. on Jan. 3, the Burke County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a commercial structure fire at ZipTied Performance on US Highway 70 E.

Several other agencies, including Icard Township Fire/Rescue, Lovelady Fire/Rescue, Drowning Creek and Long View Fire Departments also responded to the scene along with EMS.

The first crew on scene reported heavy fire coming through the roof of the single-story structure. The fire was brought under control and one person was treated for minor fire-related injuries.

Officials say several vehicles on the property were damaged by the fire, and some were completely destroyed.

Used motor oil leaked out of a storage tank onto the ground and roadway, prompting Burke County Emergency Management to respond to the scene.
