Black Swamp fire 100% contained, US Forest Service announces

The US Forest Service announced Thursday that the Black Swamp fire is 100% contained at 950 acres. Crews with the North Carolina Forest Service, US Fish and Wildlife, North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission, National Park Service, USDA Forest Service and more have fully suppressed the fire. Dams, pumps, and canals were used to fully submerge and surround the area of the fire. Crews are now working to restore the site. Road closures remain in place for now as work continues.
