Authorities respond to fire at shopping center in Winston-Salem

Crews are currently investigating a fire that broke out at a shopping center on University Parkway in Winston-Salem. According to the Winston-Salem Fire Department, crews were dispatched at 7:11 a.m. on Tuesday. It is unclear what caused the fire or if there were any injuries caused by the blaze. Winston-Salem Fire Chief Jason Allred said the first crews on the scene saw smoke coming from the roof of the shopping center. The Winston-Salem Fire department said the fire started in a bakery in the shopping center. Winston-Salem Fire said the address of the fire was 5039 University Parkway, which is next to the Peters Plaza Shopping Center.
