15 students displaced after fire breaks out at ECU residence hall in Greenville

A fire broke out on the first floor of Scott Residence Hall at East Carolina University on Friday.

According to ECU Police, the fire caused significant damage to one room and displaced 15 students. Eight rooms also suffered water damage, but no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials believe it may have been caused by a lithium-ion battery from a longboard.
