One person was hurt after an apartment fire in Goldsboro Thursday afternoon, the department said. According to the Goldsboro Fire Department, emergency personnel responded to a fire in the 700 block of Longleaf Lane just before 3 p.m. They discovered smoke and fire coming out of an apartment unit’s roof. Firefighters said the blaze was quickly brought under control. No other apartments were damaged. The occupant of the apartment unit suffered minor burns to their hands and was treated at the scene by Wayne County EMS. No one else was injured in the fire, according to emergency personnel. Firefighters said the Wayne County Chapter of American Red Cross is helping the displaced resident find a place to stay and with other immediate needs.
